Set in the exciting, electric rush of New York City in 1912, SYNCOPATION is a joyous love story about two people trying to follow their passions.
Meet Henry Ribolow, a Jewish meatpacker crazy with a dream of becoming a ballroom dancer. He is desperate for a dance partner. Meet Anna Bianchi, an Italian Catholic seamstress, unsatisfied at home, at work and with her fiancée. Then she spots a curious ad in the paper: ‘Give your life a lift. Wanted: a dance partner to dance for royalty.’
From the moment Anna summons up the courage to answer the ad and knock on the door of the dusty room Henry has rented to dance in, sparks fly.
Little do Anna and Henry realise that as they take their first steps together, they are embarking on a journey that will transform their lives. They dance, urged on by the jazzy rhythms and haunting melodies of Gershwin, Joplin and Berlin. As their relationship tugs and pulls, they pour their feelings into amazing ballroom routines choreographed by Dancing With Stars’ dancer/choreographer Mark Hodge. In the hands of the brilliant new talents of Steve Mouzakis and Emma Palmer, the story of Henry and Anna takes flight, lifting all of us with them.
