HILLTOP – Albury Wodonga Accommodation Centre

It’s open! HILLTOP, the Albury Wodonga Carer Accommodation Centre is now open. Hilltop is now accepting patients and their carers.

About the Project

The Fight Cancer Foundation in partnership with Rotary, Lions and Zonta service clubs, is conducting a $2.8million capital appeal for the Albury Wodonga Accommodation Centre – HILLTOP.

The Rotary, Lions and Zonta Clubs in the region have contributed over $812,000 to the appeal to date, local business has contributed over $500,000 and private donors over $650,000. Numerous local sporting and community clubs have also come to the aid of this important project. Major sponsors include the Cancer Council of New South Wales and Essential Energy. Generous grants of $872,000 from the New South Wales Department of Health and $1.5 million from the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing have ensured the project has moved forward.

The centre is critical to the Albury Wodonga region. Stage One, a 20 room accommodation centre for patients, carers and families, has been built adjacent to Albury Base Hospital. It is providing state of the art, affordable, short term and long term housing for those from the surrounding region needing to access Albury Wodonga hospitals and who would otherwise have to meet the cost of commercial accommodation or travel long distances daily.

The accommodation centre will alleviate the worry of where to stay and how to fund those stays for patients and carers. It will provide a vital piece of health infrastructure in the Albury Wodonga region and the outlying communities that are serviced by the hospitals.
