The BMDI Leukaemia Family Support Group was formed in 1991 by a group of dedicated volunteers who have had experience with leukaemia, either personally or as carers. Through their own unique experiences, they offer non-medical advice and practical support to patients, families or carers who may be having difficulty coming to terms with facing a life threatening illness.
If you have a family member, loved one or friend who has been diagnosed with leukaemia, and you are struggling to cope with your situation or just need to talk to someone who understands, please contact the BMDI Leukaemia Family Support Group. Every effort will be made to connect you to a member who has had experience with your particular problem. The support group complements your medical, nursing and social work services and aims to provide non-medical support and to just be there for you.
Support group members are prepared to visit patients in hospital, at home, at the offices of the BMDI or talk to patients, their family and friends on the phone. You can choose the support that suits you and your family or friends.
The group meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 12.30 pm at BMDI House, Level 2, 4-12 Blackwood Street, North Melbourne.
