As we prepare for Red Ball 2010 please relive the fabulous night of Red Ball 2009.
Thank you to everyone for making Red Ball 2009 one of the most memorable evenings ever, raising more than $250,000.
Disco was the theme. The black and silver sequined décor and table decorations by Style By Nature, reflected a sophisticated and very modern New York disco scene with the Red Ball name gleaming large in chrome. Mirrored disco balls hung discretely by the stage accenting the evening’s theme.
The guests were welcomed with champagne and cocktails with many having first been photgraphed on the ‘Red Carpet’. The opening number McArthur Park, sung by 16 year old Annabelle Priftus and accompanied by 6 male dancers, wowed the audience and set the mood for the evening.
Grace Night, Australia’s jazz diva, entertained the 800 plus guests with her emotive and sensual rendition of jazz classics including the iconic ‘Fever’.
Another highlight of the evening was Nadia Chiodo. Accompanied by 120 Jason Law dancers in full costume, her rendition of the Michael Jackson classic, “Thriller”, was spectacular.
The bidding was fierce in the live auction. One very ecstatic guest bid and won 2 tickets to the closing performance of the Broadway production of A Steady Rain starring Hugh Jackman and Daniel Craig kindly donated by the stars of the show. The bidding on the silent auction prizes was equally as competitive with more than 120 fabulous prizes to choose from.
Guests who generously pledged $1000 or more were entered one into an exclusive draw for a magnificent Paspaley South Sea Pearl necklace. Paspaley also generously donated a pair of pearl and diamond earrings and a pair of pearl and 18ct white gold cufflinks for the raffle.
A moving tribute to the late founding chairman and president Mr John Opie AM reminded one and all that the dream of fighting and winning the battle against cancer can be won one patient at a time.
The glittering evening slowly came to a close with the dance floor moving to the sounds of Lady Soul and Discorama. As the guests departed ladies were farewelled with a beautifully boxed rose and the gentlemen with chocolates.
Once again the irrepressible Red Ball production manager Xen of Trumpet Events, wove his magic and created an unforgettable experience for all. The Red Ball 2009 proved to be a fabulous night of entertainment, delicious food and excellent wine all in the name of raising money for the Fight Cancer Foundation
