Kicking 2020 to the curb - end of season wrap
Now that the siren has finally sounded on the year 2020, we want to celebrate our achievements with our incredible Footy Colours Day team.
This year, despite everything 2020 had to throw at us, we are incredibly proud to announce that..
(dramatic pause)
..together we raised just shy of $400,000 to help kids with cancer keep up with school.
Thank you to each and every one of you for donning your footy colours and hosting an event last year no matter where you were – at home, at school or somewhere in between! We are so thankful to have such incredible participants like you.
2020 also saw the addition of some wonderful new ambassadors. We welcomed to the Footy Colours Day family, Corey Waddell from the Manly Sea Eagles, Felise Kaufusi from the Melbourne Storm, Justin O’Neill from the North QLD Cowboys and Sam Llyod from the Western Bulldogs. We also introduced some very special kids to our ambassador squad, Leni, Mason and Molly!
In the absence of face-to-face opportunities, our player ambassadors donated their time to make some very special zoom calls to kids currently enrolled in our education support programs. Seeing the smiles on the kid’s faces was a true highlight of the year.
Our cheerleaders in head office were busier than ever creating new and covid-friendly resources for you to use during your events, and Fight Cancer Foundation even hosted our own virtual Footy Colours Day event over zoom – a first for the Foundation!
If 2020 taught us anything, it’s that as a nation we will always find a way to come together and dig deep to help others in need during an uncertain time in our own lives, and we are extremely proud to be a part of that.
We have some exciting things in the pipeline for Footy Colours Day 2021. We hope you’ll join us so we can beat 2020’s tally and help even more kids with cancer! Click here to join the Footy Colours Day team!
