9 News Melbourne's Jo Hall meets young learner Lily
Eight-year-old Lily and her mother Kat had a special visit from 9 News Melbourne's Jo Hall to see how funds raised through Footy Colours Day makes a difference.
Lily was diagnosed earlier this year with leukaemia, and was flown to Melbourne from her family home in regonal Victoria for treatment.
When Lily's cancer was identified it was one day into Term 1 of Grade 2, as a result Lily has missed the entire year of school.
Fight Cancer Foundation's education support program at The Royal Children's Hospital has helped Lily continue her education from Melbourne.
This September Lily is wearing her favourite footy player's footy jumper - her Dad!
"No matter what's happening, no matter how unwell she is Belinda (Lily's teacher) comes in and lights up the room, and gives Lily that bit more of education that she very much needs," said Kat.
Lily is eight months into her two and a half years of treatment and is currently in remission.
