Try of the Year 2017 - Townsville Cancer Centre
This year’s Try of the Year appropriately comes from North Queensland.
We were thrilled to have the support of the Townsville Cancer Centre in 2017, whose aim is to contribute to closing the gap in clinical outcomes that exist between rural and Indigenous patients and their urban counterparts.
“As a Cancer Centre we support most cancer related charities and try to bring awareness to our staff, patients and the public. Being up here in North Queensland, Cowboys country – how can we not get involved. We posted all the posters from Footy Colours Day on our walls weeks before and asked all staff to wear their Footy Colours and make a gold coin donation. We decorated the department with balloons (blue, grey and yellow). All our patients were great sports, dressing up as well. This is definitely an event we will continue to support,” said Elderene Brostrom, Consultant Radiation Therapist.
As you can see from their event photo, Townsville Cancer Centre definitely wore their team’s colours with pride this Footy Colours Day.
