How do you celebrate Christmas...when your child has cancer?
How do you keep your family together...when your child’s treatment keeps you away from home for 10 months?
How do you make ends meet...when the bills mount and force you to sell your family’s cars...business...home?
Hopefully you never have to face what Kellie and Leigh’s family did when their beautiful 8-year-old daughter Leni was diagnosed with cancer last year.
Your help is vital because you never know when it will be someone you know, someone you love, facing one of life’s toughest battles.
Leni’s cancer started quietly. Sore legs. A temperature. Just feeling a bit ‘off’.
It was only when the violent vomiting started that mum and dad, Kellie and Leigh, began to fear something worse than ‘a bug going around’. Soon, doctors confirmed every parent’s worst fears.
Cancer. Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia.
The only treatment to try to save Leni’s life is almost as brutal as the disease – aggressive chemotherapy, lumbar punctures, blood transfusions...and a total of 10 months in hospital, three hours away from home.
Kellie sold her dress shop.
Leigh put his building business on hold.
The family’s cars had to go as the financial pressure mounted.
Your donation makes a difference to families fighting cancer:
It can provide a Christmas Hamper for a family staying in our Fight Cancer Foundation home away from home accommodation centre over Christmas. The Hamper may not be as grand as the meal you will enjoy with your family and friends this Christmas, but your kindness will shine a little light of joy for a family like Leni’s.
It can provide an overnight stay in one of our apartments to attend vital appointments.
It can cover the cost for a full week’s stay in a family apartment.
Your donation is tax-deductible, and will directly help to support families in most urgent need of your kindness this Christmas.
You only have to listen to Kellie to know what an impact you will have on a family facing one of life’s toughest battles:
“Having a place to stay, where we could all be together, helped give our family the strength to support Leni, and hold on to hope even on the hardest days.”
Please give this gift to families this Christmas.
Your donation for a Christmas Hamper, or to add a night’s accommodation, or even for a full week’s support – will be of great comfort to families
Thank you for understanding how important this is. Thank you for opening your heart to care. Thank you for supporting a family during the toughest times of their child’s cancer fight, so they can celebrate Christmas together and look forward with hope to the future.
