Hilltop Accommodation Centre: Stage 2 Expansion
The emotional and financial toll a cancer diagnosis has on families is devastating. Those who do not live close to a treating hospital face the added challenge of finding somewhere to live while their loved one receives and recovers from treatment.
Fight Cancer Foundation's Albury Wodonga accommodation centre, Hilltop, provides patients and their carers with comfortable and affordable accommodation close to the Albury Base Hospital, Albury Wodonga Cancer Centre and other local treatment centres.
Increasing demand has prompted Fight Cancer Foundation to embark on the Stage 2 expansion of Hilltop. We are appealing to the community to help contribute to the finishing touches of this vital expansion.

Stage 2 Expansion
The Project
Since Hilltop opened in 2013, demand for accommodation close to Albury Base Hospital and Albury Wodonga Regional Cancer Centre has steadily increased. To meet this demand, Fight Cancer Foundation is expanding its services at Hilltop.
An additional 10 accommodation units, additional communal spaces and other guest facilities will be part of the expansion which will increase the capacity of this unique and vital service by 3,650 guest nights each year.
The Funding
The much-needed expansion cost approximately $3.8 million.
In March 2019, Fight Cancer Foundation was thrilled to receive a $1.9 million grant from the Federal Government’s ‘Building Better Regions Fund’.
We have committed $1.1 million to this project, leaving $1 million to raise from the community. Our project partners, Rotary Club of Albury North, Lions District 201V6 and the Zonta Club of Albury Wodonga will be instrumental in helping us achieve this goal.
As we add the finishing touches to the expansion, we appeal to the community to help us raise funds.

History of Hilltop Accommodation Centre
In 2013 Fight Cancer Foundation opened the doors of its third patient accommodation centre in Albury Wodonga, Hilltop. Hilltop provides people receiving treatment for cancer and their carers with comfortable accommodation just 50 metres from the Albury Base Hospital and Albury Wodonga Regional Cancer Centre.
Hilltop has 20 specialist rooms, each with private bathroom, communal lounges and children play areas. Building a purpose-built facility gave us the opportunity to create something special for our community - a safe, comfortable and welcoming home away from home for those who needed it most.
Since opening in 2013, Hilltop’s 20 specialist rooms and communal facilities have supported more than 1,000 families.
